Just An Ordinary Day
Friday began just like any other ordinary day. We made plans for breakfast out and then shopping.
J took a couple of pictures of me in the outfit I was wearing. This was done with a blog post in mind. The outfit is Chico’s. I tried a long vest and then a short one. In the end I chose the short vest. The vests are both Zynergy from Chico’s. Pants, top and necklace are also Chico’s. The shoes are eight year old Connie slides, with a bit of a wedge. I ended up wearing a pair of black Yellow Box flip flops.
As it turned out, the shorter lighter weight vest was a very good choice, because we were in the car, running around, a tad more than we planned.
My breakfast was white chocolate French Toast made with fresh baked sourdough bread and drizzled with raspberry sauce. As usual I only finished about half. It was delicious. On any other ordinary day, I would have something like fruit and coffee. I am not a big eater. Especially since growing older. I know the visuals seem to tell another story. However, there are those of us in the world who do the daily battle and have for years, even though we don’t “look it”. I am in excellent health, with only minor aches and pains, usually associated with folks of my age. On the other hand, J finished my French Toast, his four biscuits and gravy, bacon and hash browns. He’s skinny and his health could be better…go figure.
It was a good thing we had a hearty breakfast. As it turned out, it would be 7 hours until our next meal, after a busy and eventful day.
During breakfast the hostess complimented me on my necklace. I told her it is Chico’s. She is a fan of Chico’s, too. She told me about a resale shop that offers quite a bit of Chico’s. When we finished shopping for provisions we dropped them off at home and drove over to the shop. Very nice resale shop, where I found a hot pink Chico’s tee to go with my hot pink checked shirt. That was my only Chico’s find. I found a jacket and bracelet with a different label. I’ll tell you about them in another post. The resale shop is on Mid Rivers, St Peters, across from Red Robin.
We stopped at Aldi for staples wine and cheese. I also picked up mushrooms and flatbread for supper. As we were about to check out there was an announcement that transactions would need to be cash, due to a glitch in the system. We were told the glitch affected every Aldi store across the country. We were lucky to have cash. This little episode illustrated, very well, how much we rely on plastic.
Bang! Oops!
We needed to make one more stop. Here is what happened. This little fender bender was the reason for having 7 hours between breakfast and our next meal at supper. Just a little inconvenience. Paperwork takes time. The police officer and J had a great conversation about the road named for his family. The officer recognized the name and was happy to hear how the road name came to be. When he came over to the car to get my information he told me how much he enjoyed hearing the road/family story. Nice young man.
After this ordinary day, it was time for a simple supper on the porch.
Flatbread, baby bella and white button mushrooms sliced, sliced onion, soft cheese, olive oil. Preheat oven to 400. While oven heats, caramelize onion with mushrooms. Place flatbreads on cookie sheet, drizzle with olive oil, layer soft cheese slices, then mushroom onion mix. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese. Bake 10 to 15 minutes.
Perfect end to an ordinary day in the life of Pat and J.
Leftovers for Saturday lunch.
Enjoy your weekend!
