An Island Setting
Gordon Ramsey for Royal Doulton (Bed Bath and Beyond), Daily Ware glassware. Bits and pieces of this and that, BB&B.
This photo is a good representation of the size of this swan I found at Home Goods on my first day out after recovering from the tummy virus that stayed with me, in one form or other, about two weeks. I managed to wrestle the heavy bird into the cart and check out. After that, it was up to J to get it into the house. I do believe the swan is worth every effort. I am thinking about using it on the dining table or a buffet I purchased yesterday.
Artwork for the Downsized Lodge
We shopped for furniture Saturday morning. I found a couple of chairs and a rug for the front guest room. We are using the room as a den or tv room. The catalyst, for my idea for this room, is the print of Lewie and Clark I ordered from Orvis last month. I saw this print in a shop on Historic South Main (Saint Charles MO), a couple of years ago. I always regretted not buying the print, which is absolutely perfect for us. When I found it at Orvis, I didn’t hesitate to make the purchase.
I found the boat prints, above, the same day I brought home the swan.
Lewie and Clark
We purchased the John Pils print of Historic Saint Charles Mo, several years ago. The boathouse sign from Home Goods just seemed to fit right in.
It looks like the tv room will have a definite St Charles flavor.
We chose two of the rusty red chairs and this rug for the tv room. We will also use our handmade furniture and the big round leather ottoman. I can’t wait to begin putting this room together. The plan for the window is plantation shutters.
(Pillow Photos~Pottery Barn)
The lower right photo shows a buffet for the living room. It is about 40 inches tall by 60 inches wide. Dish storage, of course. The chair in the upper left corner is the style we are trying for two counter stools. I like how the X pattern mimics the design in the cane backs of our Ethan Allen dining chairs. The pillows are considerations for the tv room chairs. I am leaning toward the lower left pillow, but you never know.
We have all day doctor appointments tomorrow (Monday). They are regular check ups for both of us. As it turns out they are also follow ups for J’s hospital stay and my ER visit. We are both much improved.
I am going to try to visit Home Decorators in between appointments.
It’s so good to be back!
