Our health has improved through this week. We continue resting. Chicken soup and frozen fruit pops equal good medicine.
We have taken care of little things on our list, including getting a bid from our painter guy for painting the entire house in Sherwin Williams Assessable Beige. This color is a light beige with gray undertones and will work beautifully. Painting will begin after the new floors are in, since trim levels will change with the new floors. The flooring bid is scheduled for Tuesday, with plantation shutters being bid the same day. With these appointments we feel as if progress is moving again, after the little hiccups.
Once again, the focus of my photos is on the fireplace. I am enjoying playing with vignette ideas and camera practice. Stay with me, the fun stuff should begin in a week or two.
I am hoping to chair shop over the weekend. I have a plan for one of the guest rooms. It looks as if it might be the first project in our new home.
We were in Troy (MO) Wednesday and stopped by Troy Flower Shop where we picked up this beautiful bouquet for an Easter mantel.
All this and a basket of Pansies.
In this photo you catch just a glimpse of the countertops. Three years ago, when we started this journey, we looked at countertops. I really wasn’t interested in granite or other natural stone. We had all those bells and whistles in our last home. In our new home we want ease of care and not so pricey but still attractive. I love the look of soapstone and wondered if I could find something that looked the part, in a laminate. We found a sample and decided, if possible, that would be the counter surface for us. Like so many other things in our new home, the countertops would have been exactly what we would choose if we were starting from scratch. The simple shaker style cabinets are finished in dark brown stain. Kaffe is the color. Still debating whether to add hardware to the cabinets. Next up, in the kitchen, will be a faucet change to brushed nickel with a couple of little extras.
Enjoy this special weekend!
