This week is one of those weeks when we had a few appointments so we decided to stay at the house, since Molly doesn’t mind being left home alone there. She is fine at the apartment, but she needs her beloved humans on the premises at all times. When we need to be away from home a few hours and Molly isn’t able to go with us, we just make it easier for every one and stay at the house.
As it turned out, sometime over the weekend, I picked up a nasty little bug and we had to rearrange the appointments. We decided to stay at the house anyway. Being sort of confined, it gave me time to think. My thoughts turned to the dining room and before I knew it a plan began to take shape.
The result of all that feverish thinking is the tablescape in the dining room. The first table I put together in that room since June. Most of the dishes are packed, but I managed to set a table for Fall, using Mikasa French Countryside dinner plates and stemware. Other plates are Spode. The flatware is also Spode Woodland. The centerpiece is made up of odds and ends found in the basement, plus apples, pears, gourds, and pumpkins.
As I compose this post, it is Tuesday afternoon. I am beginning to feel better and imagine I will be back to normal, whatever that is, by the end of the week.
