Let me tell ya 'bout the birds and the bees
And the flowers and the trees
And the moon up above
And a thing called 'Love'
~Herbert Newman
I’m still sort of on a bit of a hiatus, but still posting. I’ve leaned heavily on archives for a couple of months.
This week, I considered doing a St Patrick’s Day table, but just didn’t get the right little ol’ vibe going.
The table setting muse whispered in my ear, just a hint of Spring.
I began with the centerpiece and then chose the dishes. Usually it is the other way around.
I piled several different items in the middle of the dining room table, then subtracted and added until I had the look I was imagining.
Nothing new on this table. Just bits and pieces of this and that from the dish closet and other things from the basement, where outdoor Summer accessories are stored away. I even borrowed the metal butterfly from the hearth room gallery wall. The preserved boxwood topiaries and wreath are from the hearth room, also. Whatever works for table settings, even if you need to borrow from other rooms.
What I really like about this table is how quickly it came together. I had a little idea pop into my head early in the morning. I knew where to find everything I needed to put the arrangement together. It wasn’t necessary to expend extra energy searching for anything.
The light was fairly decent, so the photography was manageable.
Dishes and some accessories are stored in the breakfast room cabinet, hearth room cabinet and the dish closet in the kitchen. All easily accessed. Glasses, used in this setting, are stored in the wine buffet. Napkins are in a dining room cabinet. I reused the same Oneida Louisiana flatware from the previous tablescape. This is our everyday flatware.
The salad plates are Mikasa Garden Toscana. Perfect for a wishful Spring table.
An easy blog post. My new goal is to keep my posts simple. It’s a lot of work putting together several posts each week. I’ve decided it’s time to make less work of it. Relaxation is the key. No stress blogging.
I lost sight of my “blogging without obligation” mantra and now I am making an effort to get it back. I think it is working because my mojo is returning.
I know you understand. Thank you so much for standing by Back Porch Musings through all these years.
