Reuben, Reuben, I've been thinking.
What a strange world this would be
If all the men were all transported
Far beyond the northern sea!
Rachel, Rachel, I've been thinking.
What a strange world this would be
If the girls were all transported
Far beyond the northern sea!
Reuben, Reuben, I've been thinking.
Life would be so easy then!
What a great world this would be,
If there were no tiresome men!
Rachel, Rachel, I've been thinking.
Life would be so easy then!
What a great world this would be,
If you'd leave it to the men!
Reuben, Reuben, I've been thinking.
If we went beyond the seas,
All the men would follow after
Like a swarm of bumblebees!
Rachel, Rachel, I've been thinking.
If we went beyond the seas,
The girls all would follow after
Like a swarm of honeybees!
The little song was written by Harry Birch in 1871, with music by William Gooch.
The lyrics used in this post are the modern version.
From the time I decided to make Reuben’s for lunch, Thursday, that little song started running through my head.
Do you know the song?

Corned Beef Answer
I was asked how I make corned beef and cabbage. I buy a corned beef at the supermarket and cook it in a slow cooker, much the same as I do a roast.
I chop cabbage and cook it in a large pot, with just a little bit of water. I add salt, pepper, sugar, and butter, just before serving with quartered and boiled red potatoes.
Sometimes I buy corned beef from the deli and add the cabbage and potatoes.
