Defer:
intransitive verb: to submit to another's wishes, opinion, or governance usually through deference or respect.
(Merriam-Webster)
Or in this case; I realize it’s a tad early for Christmas decor and I suppose it is best to wait. However…
When you reside in the land of blog you might sometimes appear to rush the season. When you think about it, one might need to decorate a little early, due to obligations and virtual Christmas house tours.
I know I am giving the appearance of decorating too soon, but it is something I truly enjoy and BPM is on the list of homes to tour in a couple of upcoming events.
I look forward to those events with lots of enthusiasm and hope you will understand, in deference to the little ol’ snowy haired author of this blog, when you see Christmas at the Back Porch while Thanksgiving is still more than a week away.
I’m not succumbing to commercialism and I plan to spend lots of time with loved ones between now and Thanksgiving. I’m just tossing around glitter and garland along the way.
And now, the table.
I really wanted to set a table with my salad plates adorned with silvery trees. The centerpiece would have included the deer, shown on this table. Mercury glass trees might have been added to the mix.
Instead and in deference, I suspended my need to set a pre-Christmas Christmas table until next week…or perhaps the week after.

On the cusp of the holidays, I set a table seemingly suspended between seasons.
Snowy crocheted cloth and silvery deer grazing amid Summery flowers, form a centerpiece for Spode Italian dinner plates, Spode Woodland flatware, and Mikasa French Countryside stemware.
