Buildings in our condo complex are white with dark green roofs and doors. The decks and porches are stained and have green railing.
We bought our condo in 2003. It sits on a quiet cove on the Grand Glaize Arm of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, with a view of Lake of the Ozarks State Park, across the lake. Our deck faces east toward this gorgeous view and glorious sunrises.
Our unit is 1250 square feet with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The front door opens onto a small entry foyer that leads to the kitchen/great room.
This is the first year I’ve decorated the condo for Christmas. We are hoping to spend most of December here, with a couple of trips home for appointments and mail sorting.
The more we spend time here the more we want to move here. I was born in southwest Missouri and grew up in the hills and hollows of the beautiful Ozarks. I have wonderful memories of the lake and surrounding areas. Moving here would be like coming home.
Our grandchildren love visiting the lake!
Several of my photos, shot around the lake, are matted and framed in white. A minnow bucket holds a free form wintery arrangement with burlap bow.
The drawer of the rustic drop leaf table holds Molly’s leash; a wicker trunk beneath the table holds her food.
The wall color is Sherwin Williams Mink.
The wine cabinet vignette includes a souvenir print depicting scenes in Door County Wisconsin.
On the left is a painting by artist Fifi Flowers showing a lakeside lunch served on our deck. To the right is a photo, purchased on a family trip, of Mackinac Bridge (Michigan). The sunflower is one of my photos.
Looking back to the foyer and a napping Molly dreaming of a white Christmas.
This Santa and several other Jim Shore pieces were brought from home.
The small sparse tree with a beautifully crooked trunk is perfect for our getaway place.
JILL BARRETT LEFT A COMMENT ON THIS POST CONCERNING THE USE OF SHELLS/NAUTICAL THINGS. I DON’T ORDINARILY THEME DECORATE, HERE AT THE CONDO OR AT HOME. THEREFORE, THE SHELLS DO NOT REPRESENT A THEME.
MANY OF THE ITEMS USED HERE AT THE LAKE ARE THINGS WE’VE PICKED UP ALONG OUR LITTLE ROAD TRIPS. OUR GRANDCHILDREN BROUGHT SHELLS HOME FROM FLORIDA, A FEW YEARS AGO, AS GIFTS FOR US. I’VE PROUDLY USED THEM HERE AND IN OUR HOME.
SAILBOATS ARE SEEN HERE AT THE LAKE, THEREFORE SAILBOATS ARE USED IN THE DÉCOR OF OUR CONDO. THERE ARE GULLS HERE AT THE LAKE AND MUSSELS IN THE RIVERS ALL AROUND MISSOURI.
AS FOR THE STARFISH USED IN THE CHRISTMAS DÉCOR THIS YEAR. THEY REPRESENT THE STAR OVER BETHLEHEM.
THE SHELLS ON THE MANTEL ARE MY TAKE ON SNOW. YOU WILL NOTICE MOST OF THEM ARE WHITE.
JILL, I WISH YOU HAD LEFT A LIVE LINK OR EMAIL. I WOULD HAVE BEEN HAPPY TO SEND A NOTE EXPLAINING WHY I CHOSE TO USE THINGS NOT ORDINARILY FOUND AT AN INLAND LAKE.
THE LAKE OF THE OZARKS HAS MORE SHORELINE THAN CALIFORNIA. IT’S A PRETTY GOOD SIZED LAKE.
