a guest room
Style inspiration can be found through many sources.
I drew inspiration, for the condo guest room makeover, from one of Missouri’s beautiful state parks.
Each visit to Bennett Spring State Park brings back happy memories from my childhood.
Even though the guest room is still a work in progress, I am sharing a few of my thoughts for the makeover.
A fishing cabin guest room is perfect for our getaway place at the lake.
Print from a Plein Air watercolor of Bennett Spring.
I borrowed a few things from J’s lodge/den, at home; a very old telescoping fly rod and dip net, plus a new creel.
Framed pressed ferns…
Black and white photos of Bennett Spring and other Missouri places…
When the room is finished, I hope it has a fishing cabin look without seeming contrived. This is why I am using pieces we’ve collected that have special meaning for us.
Patchwork quilts and simple furnishings will complete the look.
If all goes according to plan, the room will be painted during our next trip to the lake. When the painting is finished, I’ll put the room together and post about it.

Susan of Thoughts from a Cozy Corner, mentioned using my framed photos in the room. I plan to do several framed black and white or sepia photos.
Thank you for mentioning this Susan.
You all are great!
Many of you correctly guessed the piece of farm equipment, seen HERE, as a thresher. We found the thresher at an animal hospital, at the lake. The building was constructed over the past several months.
A beautiful animal hospital.
