FROM THE HOME OF MARY CAROL GARRITY

APRIL 27, 2007
I toured MCG’s beautiful home and shopped at Nell Hill's during the 2005 Holiday Open House. I met Mary Carol at the shop. What a charming, hardworking, delightful woman! Her enthusiasm is contagious!
J was there, too. He found a bench, outside the shop, where he was enlisted by other shoppers to take care of purchases while they returned to the shop for forgotten treasures. J is one of those people who never meets a stranger. He had a long conversation with Mary Carol. He had no idea who she was until I pointed her out, as we were leaving.
The photos in this post are from our tour of Mary Carol’s home in 2005.

I was so excited about this particular tour (2007). I've met several people through two decorating boards, I belong to. Some of us planned to meet at Nell Hill's. We had never met in person, but share a love of decorating, Mary Carol and Nell Hill's Style. This Nell Hill's trip was especially fun!
JANUARY 2013
We toured Mary Carol Garrity’s home on May 11, 2007. Before boarding the bus for the tour, I shopped Nell Hill’s Atchison. As I walked into the store, my Kodak point and shoot camera slipped from my grasp and fell to the floor. I was heartbroken.
We toured the home. As we were leaving I said to J, I really “need” some pictures. We found a disposable camera and returned to Mary Carol’s home. She was sitting on the porch when we arrived. I told her what had happened to my camera and how I was returning for pictures. She told me to come on in.
If you ever have the opportunity to visit Atchison, Nell Hill’s and the Garrity home, please try to get there. You won’t be disappointed.
Dropping my camera, that day, was the beginning of my education in DSLR photography. We had a huge family garage sale that same month. I was able to purchase my first Canon Rebel (xti), with my share of the proceeds.
NELL HILL’S BRIARCLIFF
When the Briarcliff store opened in Kansas City during 2007, I was there and so were some of my friends from the decorating board. It was fun meeting them again and enjoying the opening of the store together.
Rhoda of Southern Hospitality was a member of the same decorating forum. We’ve known each other at least 10 years, yet never met.
