A STUDIO
Bonus room gets new life.
The painting of our home with Molly was done by Fifi Flowers.
This week, I moved my cameras and other photography equipment to the room above the garage. I’ve done some photography in this room and love the light. The studio is a fairly dust free place to keep my lenses and cameras when they aren’t in use. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before.
When our home was under construction we asked the builder to finish the space above the garage. The room has evolved from would be craft room to storage space and now photography studio.
Canon Rebel T2i and an assortment of lenses.
This Canon G11 and the Rebel T2i were used for photos in this post. All the photos were taken in natural light without flash.
When we decided to try selling our home last year, we de-cluttered the bonus room and moved in a few pieces of furniture for staging purposes. Our home is no longer on the market.
There is a narrow closet in the wall behind the vintage cabinet at the far end of the room.
Three sun tunnels flood the room with light, even on overcast days. Those three circular objects in the ceiling are the tunnels. You can see we are having a sunny day in northeast Missouri. The only artificial light in these photos is the yellow lamp, next to the dormer.
We added three small track lights. Speakers are in the room.
I work with my laptop in this room, also.
A mirror for reflection, foam core, and poster board nearby just in case they are needed.
There is no need to accessorize or decorate this room. I want to keep bits and pieces to a minimum so I don’t have to move things around when arranging things for photos.
The plan is to photograph flowers and food in the studio. Time will tell if I am successful with the plan or if the studio evolves into another new life.
