A GREAT ROOM
MULLING OVER PROJECT IDEAS
Staying here at the condo, while our home is on the market, gives us a chance to have a good look at what needs fixing.
Last week, J came in from fishing with the idea to have crown molding installed on the kitchen cabinets.
The more I look around the great room, the more I see we need to replace the flooring.
We painted awhile back. That is still very good. The major project would be flooring. We’ve discussed this a time or two over the past couple of years and even got a bid, early on, that was way over our budget. So we decided to shelve the flooring project at that time.
Lately, we are reconsidering. Planning and getting the bids for the crown molding and flooring will keep our minds occupied so we won’t be worrying over the house sale 24/7.
We continue to have wonderful feedback on our home. It’s only been three weeks; we are positive thinking.
During 2011, we added bead board wall paper and brackets under the cabinets, giving the kitchen a cottage look.
J’s crown molding idea sounds wonderful.
If we decide to replace the carpet, with new carpet, in the living room area, we will leave the kitchen floor as is. The hard floors, in the condo, are in great shape.
We are looking at flooring options, other than carpet. If we choose wood or other hard flooring we will run it through the great room, kitchen and entry.
Don’t tell J, but I would love to replace these countertops.
Sherwin Williams Mink is above the cabinets, under the bar and on one wall of the entry. The other walls are painted a soft light grey. I don’t recall the color name. It is the top color on the same card with SW Mink.
This photo, shot during Christmas 2011, shows the entry. I shot the framed photos around the lake.
We took the table home. It sits behind the hearth room sofa now.
The TV above the fireplace has been a problem for me from the beginning. I keep having to remind myself, this is our weekend place, space is at a premium and this is the most practical solution. It is a tad uncomfortable for viewing, but it will do. The recessed area was painted SW Mink, making the space recede somewhat.
The fireplace has gas logs. We never use the fireplace and have considered replacing the gas logs with electric.
The view is the major reason we bought the condo. That is protected state park land across the way. Our condo is surrounded by park land. We arrive at the condo via a meandering road through the Lake of the Ozarks State Park.
WEEKEND VISITORS
Some of our family visited over the weekend. The G’kids were excited to tell us about the deer and other wild life they saw as they drove through the park.
Gabi and Drew, their Mommy and Aunt T. were here Friday night Saturday and Sunday. The photos in the collage were taken at Bennett Spring State Park, Saturday morning, where we had breakfast at the lodge and did a bit of exploring.
Five generations of our family have enjoyed Bennett Spring State Park, starting from the very beginning of the park, way back when.
Missouri has beautiful state parks.
FLOORING IDEAS?
What are your thoughts on engineered wood flooring, laminate or carpet, for our condo? I welcome your input.
