tulips in snow
Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

I believe that there is a subtle magnetism in Nature, which, if we unconsciously yield to it, will direct us aright. ~Henry David Thoreau
Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.
~Edith Sitwell
There is a way that nature speaks, that land speaks. Most of the time we are simply not patient enough, quiet enough to pay attention to the story.

Found
patience and a silver lining in bright pink tulips and sunshine shadows on snow.
Isn’t it wonderful when one can be inspired by two bundles of tulips from Kroger, glorious sunshine and snow.
The pitcher of tulips was set into fresh snow on our front porch, Saturday morning, where I took photo after photo. I have several keepers from the shoot.
Jane from Blondie’s Journals asked if we are dug out yet. We are indeed. Still lots of snow, though, with the temperature in mid 30’s F. More snow expected this week. No accumulation predictions at this time.
Tulips on the farmhouse table
and in a window…
We use screens on our windows in early Spring or late Fall. Otherwise, the screens are stored away in the garage.
For the two photos, above, the pitcher of tulips, elevated by a book, was placed on a small table beside an open hearth room window. I’ve taken several photos from windows, this winter, without the added texture of window screen.
answer
Someone asked if I am the photographer, here at Back Porch Musings.
Through almost four years of blog posts, I have been the photographer, with very few exceptions. If I use photos from my very talented photographer granddaughter Xanti or another source, I leave a note of appreciation within posts.
I am very appreciative of those who do the same, when using one of my photos.
The camera used for all photos, in this post, was my Canon Rebel T2i. I used a Canon 18-55 lens, with image stabilizer and a Tamron 18-200 lens. I did not use a filter. a few of the photos were enhanced with the saturation option in Photoscape. The last three photos and the snow shadow photo are straight from camera.
Photography is my hobby. I take photos for reasons other than Back Porch Musings. If you are interested in taking photos for your blog without the expense of one of the “big” cameras, there are many wonderful and affordable point and shoot cameras. One in particular is my backup camera and the one J uses exclusively; a Canon PowerShot G11.
